Gir satsing på utdanning merkbare effekter i et lokalsamfunn? Dette spørsmålet baler vi med i det nordiske prosjektet «Presence at a distance». På møtet i dag tok vi flere runder omkring bærekraft og positive effekter. Vi vil så gjerne si «ja, det gir selvsagt gode effekter for enkeltmennesket, for bedrifter og for lokalsamfunn.» Men vet vi det? Eller er satsing på utdanningstiltak bare penger ut av vinduet?

Webinar: Distance learning in rural areas – Is there life after the end of educational projects?

Over the last 20 years there have been hundreds of projects in the Nordic region where distance learning and ICT have been seen as key factors for sustainable development in rural areas. Some projects have been extremely successful and have had significant effects on the local economy whereas others simply disappeared after the funding ran out. We would like to investigate the long-term impact of distance learning projects in rural areas and to identify what conditions and elements in these projects that can cause/lead to successful long-term effects. Measuring the impact of ICT in education in rural areas

We are a group of educators from all of the Nordic nations and self-governing regions who are investigating a number of successful initiatives in using ICT to offer post-secondary education in rural areas. We aim to present examples of best practice and critical success factors as well as investigating possible reasons for unsuccessful initiatives. The project is financed by Nordplus and all the project members belong to the NVL Distans network (Nordic Network for Adult Learning).
